UWC Africa Week presents its first evening of culture and entertainment from Africa. This event is entitled Africa Night – a journey through the heart of Africa and will be hosted in the Cafeteria.


Africa Night is an event that will bring together the Waterford Kamhlaba community for a cultural evening to celebrate the continent’s diversity, complexity and beauty in one night. It is a night to learn, experience, share and enjoy exploring Africa through dance, live music, poetry and a colourful fashion show of outfits from Africa put on by students.


The events and performances of the evening will include but not limited to:

  • Deeply Rooted Sounds Jazz Band
  • Marimbas
  • Afrobeats Dance
  • The Gumboot Dance (Isicathulo)
  • Various Student performances
  • Poetry
  • A Fashion Show

The dress code for the evening is either African, formal wear or your country’s national dress.

The doors open at 19h00.
